Transcontinental Railroad Recreated in LEGO!

Calling all LEGO fans! Jeff Peterson tagged us in a post on Facebook to share how he is using our Acrylic Figurine Display Case.

Jeff has on display a LEGO Transcontinental Railroad MOC build. For those unfamiliar with LEGO terminology (yes, there is specific terminology used by LEGO fans), MOC stands for My Own Creation. That’s right, Jeff’s work is an original design. In this instance, Jeff said, “I get inspiration from what others do and then modify or add my own flair.”

Here’s a little history lesson. The Transcontinental Railroad, completed in 1869, was the first railroad to connect America’s west and east coasts. The significance of this was that for the first time in the history of the United States, travelling across the continental United States could be achieved without a horse or wagon. So it comes as no surprise that something as significant as the Transcontinental Railroad would inspire LEGO builders and historians alike to put their bricks to use and recreate the famous moment where the railroad presidents of Union Pacific and Central Pacific to drive the last spike that connected their railroads on May 10th, 1869.
